The CW Renews “Reign,” “Jane the Virgin,” “The 100,” 5 Others for Next Season

Sunday brought good news for eight of The CW’s original series.

The network confirmed that it has renewed “Arrow” (for season 4), “Jane the Virgin” (for season 2), “Reign” (for season 3), “Supernatural” (for season 11), “The 100” (for season 3), “The Flash” (for season 2), “The Originals” (for season 3) and “The Vampire Diaries” (for season 7).

Save for “Reign” and “The 100,” which were considered bubble series due to their underwhelming ratings, the other renewals were seen as very predictable.

“Jane the Virgin” does not perform especially well in the ratings, but insofar as it earned the network Golden Globe nominations and has commanded immense buzz, it was in no danger of losing its spot on The CW’s roster.

“Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience,” said The CW’s Mark Pedowitz. “By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”

Series still on the bubble for next season include “Beauty and the Beast” and “Hart of Dixie.”
