Brad Paisley’s “Perfect Storm” is Now Country’s Most-Played (Updated)

Update: “Perfect Storm,” which advanced to #1 on Monday’s rolling Mediabase country airplay chart, officially hits #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

To achieve the same feat on Mediabase, it will need to hold the top spot through Sunday evening.

==========

While it fell just short of #1 on this past week’s official Mediabase airplay chart, Brad Paisley’s “Perfect Storm” is now the country radio format’s leader on a rolling basis.

Per Mediabase, “Perfect Storm” registered as country radio’s most-played song between December 29 and January 4. It received 7,648 plays within that window, while Tim McGraw’s previous leader “Shotgun Rider” settled for 7,558.

“Perfect Storm” also commanded a larger audience from Mediabase’s panel of stations; it scored 55.29 million weekly impressions, while “Shotgun Rider” pulled 54.55 million.

To officially secure the #1 spot, it will need to retain its lead through the Sunday issuance of Mediabase’s next published chart. It also seeks to reach #1 on Billboard’s audience-driven Country Airplay chart; that listing will be refreshed Monday evening.

Other top five songs at country include Kenny Chesney’s #3 “Til it’s Gone,” Eric Church’s #4 “Talladega” and Carrie Underwood’s #5 “Something in the Water.”
