Update: While Billboard has yet to reveal where Fabolous’ new, digital “The Young OG Project” registers on its Top Album Sales (pure album sales) chart, it confirms that the album debuts at #12 on the revamped Billboard 200.
The album’s #12 bow comes on the strength of 71,000 units. Per the new Billboard 200 system, that “unit” total is the sum of pure album sales, Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album sale).
====================
Despite not emerging until the middle of the sales frame, Fabolous’ digital release “The Young OG Project” managed to register one of the ten best weekly sales tallies.
According to Hits Daily Double’s sales report, which will differ only slightly from the more authoritative Billboard/Nielsen Soundscan data, Fabolous’ record moved 72,000 US copies in its first week of release.
That positions the album at #8 on the Hits Daily Double chart. While “The Young OG Project” might not claim the same spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart, it should absolutely earn a top ten position on that authoritative listing.
“The Young OG Project” formally emerged on Christmas Day and instantly vaulted to the upper regions of the iTunes album sales chart. As far as its total sales count goes, it ranks third for the week behind J. Cole’s “2014 Forest Hills Drive” (~105K) and Nicki Minaj’s “The Pinkprint” (~104K).
