Last week, Showtime’s 10PM drama “The Affair” endured a viewership decline despite receiving season high lead-in support from 9PM flagship “Homeland.”
This week, “The Affair” registered a series high even though its “Homeland” lead-in slipped.
The season finale of Showtime’s freshman drama “The Affair” attracted a series high audience of 951,000. Its adults 18-49 rating of 0.3 (rounded from 0.25) also represents a high for the first-year series.
Last week’s episode drew a 0.2 rating with 837,000 viewers.
Despite all the buzz and momentum going into its season finale, “Homeland,” however, failed to generate a season high. Its fourth season closer drew a reduced 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.92 million. While still a strong mark that bests what had been generated throughout much of the season, it trails the 2.12 million high mark posted by the penultimate installment.
That episode’s predecessor, which aired on December 7, drew 1.95 million.
