While Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water” claims the country genre’s best position on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 (#38), Tim McGraw’s “Shotgun Rider” achieves the most notable milestone.
McGraw’s song, which is the reigning #1 at country radio, rises four places to #39 on the Hot 100. It thus crosses into the iconic Top 40 position of the all-encompassing single track chart.
The week’s biggest gain, meanwhile, belongs to Blake Shelton’s “Lonely Tonight (featuring Ashley Monroe).” Benefiting from the massive sales spike it saw in conjunction with the duo’s performance on “The Voice,” the Shelton tune rises 41 places to a new peak of #54.
