Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” Hits #2 as Pop’s Greatest Airplay Gainer

In hot pursuit of the #1 spot, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” once again ranks as the pop radio format’s greatest airplay gainer.

After cracking into the top five last week, the single flies all the way to #2 on Mediabase’s official pop airplay chart. Due to be released Sunday evening, that chart will reveal “Blank Space” commanded roughly 15,544 spins during the November 30-December 6 tracking week.

That spin total comes as the result of a format-leading weekly gain of 2,884. Dominant, the gain exceeds that of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” the frame’s second-greatest gainer, by 1,733.

Other notable gainers at pop include Hozier’s #14 “Take Me to Church” (+1,030), Selena Gomez’ #17 “The Heart Wants What it Wants” (+968) and Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s #8 “Love Me Harder” (+814).

“Blank Space” also repeats as hot adult contemporary’s most-added song. The track climbs to #3 on that chart courtesy the ~5,136 spins it received during the tracking week (+963).

Other notable gainers at Hot AC include Ed Sheeran’s #16 “Thinking Out Loud” (+663), Hozier’s #8 “Take Me to Church” (+518), Mr Probz’ #17 “Waves” (+408) and Sam Smith’s #4 “I’m Not the Only One” (+375).

Swift’s song, meanwhile, enters the top thirty at the rhythmic and adult contemporary radio formats.
