Last week, Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin” rocketed into the top forty of Billboard’s all-encompassing Hot 100.
This week, it hops into the top twenty.
“Lips are Movin” leverages added airplay, improved sales and hefty streaming of its newly launched music video to reach a new high of #19 on this week’s Hot 100.
The recipient of a nineteen-place gain, “Lips” follows “All About That Bass” as the singer-songwriter’s second top twenty hit.
That phenomenon, which reigned atop the Hot 100 for eight weeks, holds at #2 on this week’s Hot 100.
A top ten seller last week, “Lips are Movin” temporarily lost iTunes traction as buyer interest turned to songs performed at the American Music Awards (along with “The Hunger Games” track “The Hanging Tree, Beyonce’s “7/11” and Craig Wayne Boyd’s “The Voice” rendition of “I Walk the Line”).
Thanks to her performance on the “Dancing with the Stars” finale, “Lips” is back in the mix. Meghan Trainor’s “Bass” follow-up is now #9 on the all-genre single sales chart (“All About That Bass,” meanwhile, holds strong at #6).
