Unsurprising given its surging airplay, ongoing digital sales dominance and massive YouTube/streaming appeal, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” repeats atop the Billboard Hot 100.
In adding a second week to its reign, “Blank Space” ties the streaks achieved by Swift’s previous chart-toppers “Shake it Off” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The songs ultimately reigned for four weeks and three weeks, respectively, but never owned the throne for more than two consecutive frames.
Sure to stay hot over the next week, “Blank Space” seems likely to give Swift the longest Hot 100 leadership streak of her career.
Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” follows at #2, while Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” rockets to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Maroon 5’s “Animals” stays at #4, which gives it the edge over Swift’s aforementioned hit “Shake it Off.” That drops to #5 this week.
Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” slips to #6 and thus bests Sam Smith’s #7 “I’m Not the Only One” and Nick Jonas’ #8 “Jealous.” Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” and Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t,” meanwhile, return to the top ten. They claim #9 and #10, respectively.
