Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” Will Be Country’s #1 Song

Currently leading by a comfortable margin, Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” will face no difficulty securing the #1 spot on Mediabase’s official country airplay chart. That chart, which tracks airplay between Sunday and Saturday, goes to print Sunday evening.

“Neon Light,” which has spent the past several days as country’s most-played song, garnered 7,764 spins between November 1 and 7. Sam Hunt’s “Leave the Night On,” which reached #1 last week, earned 7,271 within that window.

Insofar as “Light” also claims the format’s largest audience, it is also expected to top the audience-driven Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Beginning with 2009’s “Hillbilly Bone,” every official Shelton single has gone number one at country radio.

Other top five singles this week include Frankie Ballard’s “Sunshine & Whiskey,” Little Big Town’s “Day Drinking” and Keith Urban’s “Somewhere in My Car.” Currently #3, the Ballard song might overtake “Leave the Night On” to claim the #2 position on Mediabase’s official chart this week.
