Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” Erupts as Hot AC’s Most-Added, Train Follows

Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” does not formally impact the hot adult contemporary format until November 10, but programmers are wasting no time getting behind the song.

According to Mediabase, the follow-up to “Shake it Off” ranks as the format’s most-added track on the strength of 31 monitored station pickups.

Not merely rich numerically, the list of new “Blank Space” supporters includes several powerhouse Hot AC stations.

High-profile stations like New York’s Fresh 102.7, New York’s 95.5 PLJ, San Francisco’s Alice @ 97.3 and Dallas’ 102.9 NOW filled blank playlist spaces with the name of Taylor Swift’s new single.

Already #37 at the Hot AC format and now supported by some of Hot AC’s heaviest hitters, “Blank Space” seems poised to become another smash for the singer-songwriter.

With 14 monitored adds, Train’s “Cadillac, Cadillac” ranks as the week’s second-most-added song.

Imagine Dragons’ new “I Bet My Life,” which is already cruising at alternative, begins its crossover push with 13 Hot AC adds (including Chicago’s 101.9fm The Mix and aforementioned Fresh 102.7).

Hozier’s surging “Take Me to Church” claims fourth-most-added on the strength of 12 pickups (including both Fresh 102.7 and 95.5 PLJ), while Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie,” Ingrid Michaelson’s “Afterlife” and Mr Probz’ “Waves” split fifth-most-added honors with eleven pickups each. The lattermost song made its official impact this week.

George Ezra’s “Budapest,” the week’s other newly impacting track, got off to a more modest start. It scored three monitored adds this week.
