Ratings: “Jane the Virgin” Declines in the Overnights (Updated)

Update: “Jane the Virgin” impressed The CW executives enough to warrant a full season order, but its ratings are certainly not impressive.

Monday’s episode, the show’s third, delivered a soft 0.4 adults 18-49 rating with 1.09 million viewers. The performance trails that of last week, which registered at a modest 0.5 with 1.36 million viewers.

Earlier in the night, The CW offered “The Originals” (0.6 rating, 1.30 million).

==========

When last week’s final data emerged–and revealed a sizable post-premiere drop for “Jane the Virgin”–The CW’s decision to hastily order a full season of the show seemed premature.

This week’s overnight metered market showing will not reverse that condemnatory view.

Monday’s “Jane the Virgin,” which was the show’s third broadcast to date, drew a 0.9 overnight household rating. Down from the 1.0 delivered by last week’s broadcast, it foretells another modest showing in adults 18-49 and total viewers.

The CW led into its new 9PM drama with an episode of “The Originals” at 8PM. It drew a 1.1 overnight household rating.
