Three diverse new singles officially reach the top 40 at pop this week.
Leading the charge is Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie,” which flies into the #28 spot on Mediabase’s official, weekly airplay chart.
While Stefani’s comeback single did not debut until the second day of the tracking week, it received compensatory benefit from hourly radio support on its first day of release (October 20). Certainly not ignored in the days that followed, “Baby Don’t Lie” ended up with an impressive spin count of 2,294 for the October 19-25 tracking week.
Similar promotional support also helped Iggy Azalea’s new “Beg for It (featuring MØ),” which did not debut until Friday, October 24, enter the top forty on the Mediabase chart. The recipient of 1,385 spins during its first two days of release, the song ranks #39 for the entire seven day period between October 19 and 25.
Meghan Trainor’s new single “Lips are Movin” did not receive an hourly promotional boost, but it still scored hefty airplay during the official tracking week. The song’s spin count of 1,167 (+814 from last week’s total) was the pop format’s 40th-largest.
Azalea and Trainor are also represented on the chart by #2 song “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” and #4 song “All About That Bass,” respectively. Both are former #1 hits at pop.
