Ratings: The CW’s “The 100” Returns on Par with S1 Finale

For a midseason entry, 2013-14 season launch “The 100” performed admirably for The CW. Thanks to its admirable performance–which bested that of fellow launch “Star-Crossed” by a considerable margin–“The 100” made a clear and successful case for its renewal.

The series kicked off its second season Wednesday, and it did so with a performance significantly cooler than that of its series premiere but roughly on par with that of its first season finale.

Wednesday’s episode drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.56 million viewers Nearly even with that of the June season 1 finale (0.5 rating, 1.68 million viewers), the performance trails that of the series premiere (0.9, 2.73 million).

Earlier in the night, The CW offered “Arrow” (0.9 adults 18-49 rating, 2.50 million).

Both broadcasts were subject to unusually heavy competition from FOX, which aired game two of the MLB World Series.

“The 100” joins “The Originals” and “Reign” as one of three second year series on The CW’s fall schedule. Thus far, none has built on its first season performance level.
