Ed Sheeran Scores First Hot 100 Top 10, Meghan Trainor Still Leads

“Don’t” is not the first Ed Sheeran single to make waves in the music industry.

It is, however, the first to reach the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.

The music trade announced Wednesday that “Don’t,” the second single from Sheeran’s “x,” rises to #10 on its all-encompassing Hot 100. The song appeared at #13 on last week’s chart, which tied the high attained by lead “x” single “Sing” earlier this year.

The element of change at the bottom of the top ten is not, however, mirrored at the top.

For the seventh consecutive week, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” claims #1 on the listing. Its retention of the #1 spot is owed to its popularity as a streaming option–it remains the top song on the Billboard Streaming Songs subchart.

For the seventh straight week, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” settles for the #2 position. It leads Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj “Bang Bang” (#3), Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (#4) and Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” (#5).

Other top ten songs for the week: Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG)” (#6), Maroon 5’s “Animals” (#7), Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” (#8) and Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy” (#9).
