Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin” Explodes as Pop’s Most-Added

She gave them “Bass,” and in return, pop radio programmers gave Meghan Trainor far more than mere sweet talk.

They offered explosive support for her new single “Lips are Movin.”

According to Mediabase, the follow-up to phenomenon “All About That Bass” garnered a whopping 82 monitored adds in conjunction with its official impact this week. Indicative of the credibility developed by “Bass” and the appeal of the new single, the add count convincingly ranks as the format’s largest.

Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie,” which had the benefit of promotional support from iHeartMedia, follows with a notably lesser–yet still impressive–59 monitored adds this week. Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s developing smash “Love Me Harder” grabs third place on the strength of another 37 adds.

Subject to a surprisingly light reception in conjunction with its impact last week, Hozier’s red-hot “Take Me to Church” garnered a more suitable level of support this go-around. With 28 pickups, the song ranks as pop radio’s fourth-most-added track for the week.

Mary Lambert’s “Secrets, which is already a Top 15 hit at hot adult contemporary and a top 30 hit at pop, claims fifth-most-added thanks to new support from 27 pop stations.

Eden xo’s “Too Cool to Dance,” which joined “Lips are Movin,” “Baby Don’t Lie” and four other tracks in this week’s impact class, landed at a solid 24 stations. It is the week’s sixth-most-added song. “Dangerous (featuring Sam Martin),” the latest from David Guetta, earned support from 20 stations to rank as pop’s seventh-most-added tune.

Nickelback’s newly impacting “What Are You Waiting For” follows with an add count of 18, while Alesso’s “Heroes (we could be – featuring tove lo)” and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One” tie for ninth 15 more pickups.

Led by the Trainor, Stefani, Eden xo and Nickelback songs, the list of new additions to the pop format also included Naughty Boy’s “Home (featuring Sam Romans), Lillywood & Robin Schulz’ “Prayer in C” (which apparently did not impact last week as scheduled) and Colbie Caillat’s “Try.” They scored respective add counts of 10, 6 and 0.
