Gwen Stefani Opens in Top 40 at Pop, Meghan Trainor is “Movin”

Thanks to heavy promotional support, Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie” begins its run within the Top 40 of Mediabase’s rolling pop radio airplay chart.

The song, which is Stefani’s first single since “Early Winter,” garnered 1,148 pop radio spin in its first day of availability. That ranks as the 39th-largest sum for the entire week between October 14 and October 20.

Because high-profile markets were in on the promotional action, “Baby” fared even better from an audience standpoint. The song received a whopping 11.11 million impressions, which represents the pop format’s 32nd-largest weekly audience.

— Currently on a more organic trajectory is Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin.” The follow-up to “All About That Bass,” which garnered 497 spins between October 14 and 20, is up to #49 on the latest rolling pop airplay chart.

The beneficiary of an impressive 449 week-over-week spin gain, “Movin” is quickly working towards the top 40 at pop radio. That it will receive a strong number of adds in conjunction with its official impact this week will only make the rise more inevitable–and, presumably, more rapid.

— Jessie J’s “Burnin’ Up (featuring 2 Chainz)” is also on the move. The song’s spin count of 495 between October 14 and 20, which is the pop format’s 50th-largest, comes courtesy a week-over-week gain of 409.
