In case you were unaware, modern rock acts do not get much bigger than Foo Fighters.
The band’s new single “Something From Nothing” loudly trumpeted that reality by erupting at the alternative and active rock radio formats this week.
According to Mediabase, the song garnered respective add counts of 58 and 56 to dominantly rank as each format’s most-added song.
At alternative, the tune’s closest competition came from new BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread.” Recently confirmed as the alt format’s new iHeartMedia “On the Verge” pick, “Thread” scored adds from 10 monitored stations. Other attractive options for alternative programmers included Royal Blood’s “Figure it Out” (3rd-most-added, 9 adds), Rise Against’s “Tragedy + Time” (4th, 8 adds) and U2’s “Every Breaking Wave” (5th, 7 adds).
Active rock, meanwhile, honored AC/DC’s “Play Ball” as its second-most-added song. The song, which is already up to #7 on the format’s airplay chart, scored 11 adds this week. Also in the mix were Lenny Kravitz’ “Dirty White Boots” (3rd-most-added, 9 adds), Starset’s “Carnivore” (4th, 7 adds), Godsmack’s “Something Different” (5th, 6 adds), Seether’s “Same Damn Life” (5th, 6 adds) and Sixx:AM’s “Stars” (5th, 6 adds).
With one day remaining its inaugural week, “Something from Nothing” is already up to #10 and #13, respectively, on the rolling alternative and active rock airplay charts.
