Ratings: “Mulaney” Doesn’t Make FOX Regret Shortened Order (Updated)

Update: Despite receiving stronger lead-in support from “Family Guy” (2.5 adults 18-49 rating, 4.87 million viewers), episode three of “Mulaney” matched last week’s soft 1.1 adults 18-49 rating.

Its viewership, meanwhile, enjoyed a slight climb to 2.34 million viewers.

Earlier in the night, FOX offered “The Simpsons” (3.5, 7.64 million for its post-football “Treehouse of Horror” episode) and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2.5, 5.20 million).

Over the weekend, news broke that FOX had trimmed its “Mulaney” order from sixteen to thirteen episodes. While not officially a cancellation, the move did not bode well for the low-rated comedy’s future.

The overnight rating for Sunday’s episode will doubtfully make FOX rethink its decision.

Sunday’s episode, the show’s third broadcast to date, drew a 1.6 overnight household rating. In line with the rating delivered by the previous two episodes (1.7 for the premiere, 1.5 for the follow-up), the number provides additional support for the notion that “Mulaney” is simply not clicking.

Adults 18-49 and total viewership data for the episode will be out by noon.

Earlier in the night, FOX offered “The Simpsons” (5.2 overnight household rating), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (3.3) and “Family Guy” (3.1).
