Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York” Launches Monday (Updated)

Update: Mirroring last week’s promotional effort for the launch of instant gratification track “Out of the Woods,” Taylor Swift previewed “Welcome to New York” with an audio snippet Monday morning.

The snippet, which played during ABC’s “Good Morning America,” leads to a release of the full track Monday evening:

“Welcome to New York” is the first track on Swift’s new “1989” album.

Simultaneously confirming plans for another instant gratification release, the existence of a New York-themed track on her new “1989” album and, possibly, a rumored tracklist that has been floating around, Taylor Swift wrote on her social media accounts that “Heads up! Something’s happening on @itunesmusic at around 11:59pm EST Monday night..Available worldwide:)”

Taylor’s tease, which is almost certainly for the release of another “1989” instant gratification track next Monday, includes two photos from New York City. If not outright confirmation that the to-be-released track is called the rumored “Welcome to New York,” the photos at least seem to indicate that the song will focus on the city she now calls home.

There is also significant reason to believe the track will be the first one on the album. As Headline Planet reported last week, Track 1 is the only presently-unreleased “1989” track to have a time-listed (3:32) on iTunes. Days prior to the song’s October 13 release, Track 4–which would later be confirmed as “Out of the Woods”–also received a time listing.

Additionally, in posting lyrics for track one of her album on Instagram (“It’s a new soundtrack/I could dance to this beat forevermore”), Swift included a sketch of a city skyline.

Notable about the likelihood that track one is “Welcome to New York” (or something involving “New York”) is the fact that track one on a rumored track list that recently emerged. Confirmation of one alignment would not automatically assure the authenticity of the tracklisting, but it certainly will not dissuade people from accepting its legitimacy.

The full rumored tracklisting is as follows:

1 – Welcome to New York
2 – Blank Spaces
3 – Style
4 – Out of the Woods
5 – All You Had to Do Was Stay
6 – Shake it Off
7 – I Wish You Would
8 – Bad Blood
9 – How You Get the Girl
10 – Wildest Dreams
11 – This Love
12 – I Know Places
13 – Clean
**Bonus**
14 – Wonderland
15 – You Are in Love
16 – New Romantics
