Key portions of this week’s Billboard Hot 100 mirror those found on last week’s breakdown.
Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” remains #1 on the music publication’s all-encompassing chart. No longer #1 on the Radio Songs and Digital Songs subcharts, it nonetheless rides an advantage in the Streaming Songs category to claim a sixth consecutive week atop the Hot 100.
Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” meanwhile, retains the runner-up spot for a sixth consecutive week. Its advantages over “Bass” in airplay and sales (and on-demand plays) were evidently not enough to account for the deficit in streaming.
Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” holds at its #3 peak for a second consecutive week.
Also like last week: the top five is comprised entirely of songs by women.
Despite those key similarities, this week’s chart is not a mirror image of last week’s listing.
The change begins at #4, where Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” takes over for Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang.” The Swedish singer-songwriter’s breakthrough hit, which is at its highest point to date, sends the superstar trio’s “Bang” down to #5.
Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG)” rises to #6 this week and now sits within two places of his career high position. Jeremih previously reached #4 with “Birthday Sex” and “Down on Me (featuring 50 Cent).
Maroon 5’s “Animals” lifts one spot to #7, while Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” slips to #8 on this week’s chart. Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” holds at #9.
The final spot in the top ten belongs to a newcomer. Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy,” which has been exploding on the Hot 100 thanks to massive streaming interest (largely related to the “Shmoney Dance”), surges to #10 on this week’s listing.
