Taylor Swift’s “Out of the Woods” Hits #1 on Sales Chart in Less Than an Hour

The latest release from Taylor Swift’s “1989” is officially “Out of the Woods”–and in many iTunes libraries.

It took less than one hour for her Jack Antonoff collaboration “Out of the Woods” to soar to the #1 position on the iTunes all-genre sales chart. In getting there, it was forced to send Swift’s own “Shake it Off” to #2.

While the vast level of pre-orders played a role in the song’s quick climb to number one, it realistically would have hit #1 without such a boost. New music from Swift is always an attraction, and insofar as countless fans are clamoring for some insight into an album that has maintained an immense level of mystery, the appeal is even more significant in the status quo.

That the song reportedly focuses on Swift’s past relationship with One Direction member Harry Styles added to the midnight attraction.

Swift’s “1989,” which contains “Woods” and “Shake,” ships on October 27.
