Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt” Sales Pacing for ~300K

Prior to its release this week, industry insiders were forecasting an opening week sales tally of 350-450,000 for Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt.”

That projection will not pan out.

Based on sobering–but still impressive–opening day sales data, Hits Daily Double is now eyeing a debut week total of 290-310,000. While that total will give Aldean’s album a dominant #1 finish on next week’s Billboard 200, it adds to the wave of disillusionment that has affected the music market in 2014.

Hozier’s “Hozier” will debut as the week’s next-best-selling newcomer. Its sales total will likely fall in the 50-55,000 range.

Other notable new releases include Weezer’s “Everything Will Be Alright in the End” (Hits projects 30-35,000), Alex and Sierra’s “It’s About Us” (28-32,000), Stevie Nicks’ “24K Gold” (25-28,000), Keyshia Cole’s “Point of No Return” (22-25,000), Jackson Browne’s “Standing in the Breach” (17-20,000), Tinashe’s “Aquarius” (17-20,000), New Found Glory’s “Resurrection” (17-20,000) and SixxAM’s “Modern Vintage” (15-18,000).
