While every country song was inevitably going to operate from beneath the shadow of Carrie Underwood’s certain blockbuster “Something in the Water,” the week’s other two new releases both garnered solid receptions from radio programmers.
Dierks Bentley’s “Say You Do” and The Railers’ “Kinda Dig the Feeling,” those two newly impacting tracks, registered as the format’s third- and fourth-most-added tracks with 34 and 24 monitored adds, respectively.
According to Mediabase, only Underwood’s “Something in the Water” (87 adds) and Kenny Chesney’s “Til it’s Gone” (35 adds – a week before it technically impacts) picked up more support this week.
Despite not officially impacting country radio until this week, the new Underwood, Bentley and Railers tracks are already charting on Billboard’s Country Airplay listing.
Per that publication, Underwood’s “Water” begins its run at #17 on Billboard. The Railers’ “Dig” starts at #58, while Bentley’s “Say” opens at #59.
Other songs on the receiving end of notable radio support this week include Tim McGraw’s “Shotgun Rider” (5th-most-added, 15 adds), Trisha Yearwood’s “PrizeFighter (featuring Kelly Clarkson)” (6th-most-added, 13 adds), Easton Corbin’s “Baby Be My Love Song” (7th-most-added, 12 adds), Montgomery Gentry’s “Headlights” (7th-most-added, 12 adds), Eric Church’s “Talladega” (9th-most-added, 10 adds), Jon Pardi’s “When I’ve Been Drinkin'” (10th-most-added, 9 adds) and The Band Perry’s “Gentle on my Mind” (10th-most-added, 9 adds).
