Ratings: “Mulaney” Loses “Family Guy” Audience (Updated)

Update: The series premiere of “Mulaney” drew a paltry 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with 2.30 million viewers.

Terrible in any scenario, the number is particularly bad when compared against that of its “Family Guy” lead-in. Airing at 9PM as support for “Mulaney,” “FG” drew a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 3.63 million.

While “Mulaney” irrefutably squandered that support, “Family Guy” does not deserve high marks for Sunday’s performance. The adults 18-49 number represents a 58% decline from that posted by last week’s “Simpsons” crossover episode.

Earlier in the night, FOX offered “Bob’s Burgers” (1.4, 3.14 million), “The Simpsons” (2.0, 4.27 million) and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (1.6, 3.31 million).

As young-skewing series, FOX’s Sunday comedies always look better in the adults 18-49 ratings race than they do in the overnight household race.

But when an overnight rating is as low as that drawn by the series premiere of FOX’s “Mulaney,” it doubtfully will impress in the young adult data.

Sunday’s “Mulaney” bow drew a mere 1.7 overnight household rating. Down 37% from the 2.7 drawn by lead-in “Family Guy,” the 1.7 does not foretell a solid adult 18-49 number.

Earlier in the night, FOX offered “Bob’s Burgers” (2.2 overnight household rating), “The Simpsons” (2.9) and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2.4).

Adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers will emerge by noon.
