Thanks to a larger opening day spin count than that afforded to recent Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton releases, Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water” opens at #38 on Mediabase’s rolling country airplay chart.
According to the service, the song, which benefited from a special iHeartMedia push, received a healthy 1,095 plays on Monday. That positions Underwood’s song at #38 for the entire seven day period between September 23 and 29.
The opening day count narrowly bests the 1,091 earned by Aldean’s “Burnin’ it Down,” 993 scored by FGL’s “Dirt” and 984 garnered by Shelton’s “Neon Light” in their respective debuts.
It does, however, trail the whopping 1,585 afforded to Garth Brooks’ comeback single “People Loving People” on its launch day.
From an audience perspective, “Water” opens at an even stronger #28 on the rolling chart thanks to its impression count of 12.12 million. Like the song’s spin count, that bests the opening day audience total for the Aldean, FGL and Shelton songs but falls short of the Brooks mark.
