The Pretty Reckless’ “Messed Up World” Remains #1 at Rock

For the second consecutive week, The Pretty Reckless’ “Messed Up World” is active rock radio’s #1 song.

According to Mediabase, “Messed Up World” accumulated 1,741 spins between September 14 and September 20 to repeat as the format’s most-played track. Ahead of Linkin Park’s runner-up “Until it’s Gone” by a whopping 369 spins, “World” claims an even more dominant victory this week than it did last week.

“Messed Up World” becomes the band’s second consecutive multi-week number one on the Mediabase chart. Earlier this year, TPR’s “Heaven Knows” spent several weeks as the leader of the active rock format.

In addition to reaching the pinnacle of Mediabase’s active rock airplay chart last week, TPR’s “Messed Up World” also returned to the top of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart for a second, non-consecutive week.

Since its audience impression count 4.61 million also represents the active rock format’s largest (by a margin of more than 800,000), “Messed Up World” should be able to retain the top spot on that audience-driven Billboard chart. Billboard will reveal its weekly airplay leaders Monday evening.

As far as the Mediabase chart goes, other top five songs include the aforementioned “Until It’s Gone” (#2, 1,372 spins), Slash’s “World on Fire” (#3, 1,359 spins), You Me at Six’s “Room to Breathe” (#4, 1,338 spins) and Nickelback’s “Edge of a Revolution” (#5, 1,254 spins).

New top forty entries include Bush’s “The Only Way Out” (#28, +13), In this Moment’s “Sick Like Me” (#36, +9), Seether’s “Same Damn Life” (#37, +23) and Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” (#39, +12).
