Save for the entry of J. Roddy Walston and The Business’ “Take it as it Comes” (#10) and the exit of Rise Against’s “I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore,” the top ten of Mediabase’s weekly alternative airplay chart is a near mirror of last week’s listing.
Milky Chance’s “Stolen Dance” still leads the way. Vance Joy’s “Riptide,” Dirty Heads’ “My Sweet Summer,” Big Data’s “Dangerous (featuring Joywave)” and Weezer’s “Back to the Shack” still occupy the other positions within the top five. Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars,” alt-J’s “Left Hand Free,” Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” and Bastille’s “Flaws” still appear in the top ten.
But the balance of the chart was not without moves. It was also not without new Top 40 entries.
The highest-charting among those new entries is New Politics’ “Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens),” which rises sixteen places to #31. Up 167 spins during the September 14-20 tracking period, its gain is third only to Fall Out Boy’s #16 “Centuries” (+430) and The Black Keys’ #12 “Gotta Get Away” (+188).
Also new to the mix is BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread.” The single from her new “Goddess” album vaults four places to #38.
Bush’s “The Only Way Out,” meanwhile, enjoys a twenty one position gain to #39 on the weekly chart.
