Bush’s “The Only Way Out” Scores at Rock, Alt Radio

Bush’s first single since 2012’s “Baby Come Home” is garnering enthusiasm at two key radio formats.

According to Mediabase, the band’s new “The Only Way Out” reigned as the week’s most-added song at active rock radio. A total of 22 monitored Mediabase stations added the song to their rotations this week, which will enable it to continue its ascent up the airplay chart.

As of press time, it was active rock radio’s #35 song.

“Way,” meanwhile, ranked as second-most-added at alternative radio. While its add count of 13 meaningfully trails the 23 garnered by Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries,” it still establishes solid ground for the new Bush release. Going into the adds report, “The Only Way Out” was alternative’s 47th-most-played song.

Other key active rock performers this week included Five Finger Death Punch’s “Wrong Side of Heaven” (11 adds, 2nd-most-added), Seether’s “Same Damn Life” (11 adds, 2nd), Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” (9 adds, 4th) and Mastodon’s “The Motherload” (9 adds, 4th).

Outside of the Fall Out Boy and Bush tracks, other programmer focuses at alternative radio included U2’s “The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)” (12 adds, 3rd-most-added), New Politics’ “Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)” (9 adds, 4th), Bleachers’ “Rollercoaster” (7 adds, 5th) and Fitz and the Tantrums’ “Fools Gold” (7 adds, 5th).
