While only one of the three leaps into a new segment of the chart, Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High),” Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” and Katy Perry’s “This is How We Do” all advance to new peaks on the Hot 100.
After rocketing into the Top 20 last week, “Habits” climbs an additional two places to #18. While sales hit a slight snag this week due to an iTunes re-shuffling (the “Truth Serum” EP version of “Habits” was replaced with the cut from her upcoming “Queen of the Clouds” album, which temporarily removed the song from the sales chart and thus made it harder to locate), it might be able to leverage its surging airplay for continued growth on the Hot 100.
Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” which briefly slipped out of the Top 25, re-enters the mix at a new peak of #23.
Katy Perry’s “This is How We Do,” meanwhile, makes its first appearance in the Top 25 this week. It jumps five spots to #24.
Since reaching #1 seems out of the question for the song, a more practical objective would involve advancing past the peaks of fellow “PRISM” singles “Birthday” (#17) and “Unconditionally” (#14).
“PRISM” also produced #1 hits in “Roar” and “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J).”
Also on the Hot 100 this week:
— Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” rises to a new high of #30.
— Drake’s “0 to 100/The Catch Up” enters the Top 40 this week. It advances nine spots to #35.
— Rae Sremmurd’s “No Flex Zone” surges thirteen spots to a new high of #36.
