Linkin Park’s “Until it’s Gone” Leapfrogs The Pretty Reckless for #1

The Pretty Reckless’ “Messed Up World,” which currently reigns atop Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart, spent much of the week in the #1 position on Mediabase’s Active Rock listing.

Unfortunately for TPR, the official version of that chart is based on airplay between Sunday and Saturday. And Linkin Park’s “Until It’s Gone,” not The Pretty Reckless’ “Messed Up World,” was the format’s most-played song during that period.

According to Mediabase, “Until it’s Gone” commanded 1,711 active rock spins between Sunday, August 31 and Saturday, September 6. “Messed Up World,” which finish the week in the #2 position, received 1,690 spins.

The Linkin Park song also garnered more audience impressions. “Until It’s Gone” received 4.58 million active rock impressions, while “Messed Up World” net 4.31 million.

While Mediabase does not formally publish its chart until Sunday evening, there is no question that “Until it’s Gone” will reign as the week’s number one active rock song. There is also no question that Nothing More’s #3 “This is the Time (Ballast),” Rise Against’s #4 “I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore” and You Me at Six’s #5 “Room to Breathe” will join the Linkin Park and TPR songs in the top five.
