“The Identical” Flops, “Guardians” Leads at Friday Box Office

The experts were right to give “The Identical” no chance of making a splash at the weekend box office.

“Identical,” which possesses a paltry 4% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, earned just $534,000 in its first day of release Friday. Only enough for a tenth place finish, the opening night total confirms what everyone anticipated: the critically panned release will launch to a disastrous sum.

At the opposite end of the top ten was “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which led Friday with $2.709 million. “If I Stay” and “Let’s Be Cops” followed in second and third with $1.605 million and $1.550 million.

Fourth-place finisher, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” added $1.500 million to its cumulative total, while “The November Man” improved its total position by $1.200 million. It claimed the final spot in the top five.
