Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” is Charting on Four Radio Formats

You and the moon and Neptune and MTV got it right — Echosmith was definitely an act to watch.

Confirmed as one of MTV’s 2014 Artists to Watch as the year kicked off, Echosmith is making major–and ever-increasing–waves with single “Cool Kids.”

#26 on the Billboard Hot 100, the breakthrough tune is currently charting on four radio formats.

The recipient of an iHeartRadio “On the Verge” push during the summer, “Cool Kids” is doing its most notable damage at hot adult contemporary. It was that format’s 12th-most-played song and 6th-greatest gainer during the seven days between August 29 and September 4.

Once the “On the Verge” push kicked in at Hot AC, “Cool Kids” began enjoying a surge of momentum at pop radio. It is up to #18 at the format and enjoyed an impressive 874 week-over-week spin gain during the August 29 – September 4 window.

Despite winning support from some key alternative stations, including the band’s local Alt 98.7, “Cool Kids” failed to chart on that format during the late-spring/early-summer months. Thanks to its explosion at pop and Hot AC, has since gained new life at alternative radio and recently hopped into the format’s Top 40. It is currently #36 on alternative.

“Cool Kids” is also charting at #39 on the Adult Contemporary radio format.

While the music industry largely considers the “charting” segment to be each radio format’s Top 40, it is worth noting that “Cool Kids” does have a presence on a fifth radio format. It is currently #49 on AAA.
