The Emmy Awards ceremony has come and gone, Labor Day is almost here and the big networks are beginning to turn all promotional focus to their fall schedules.
As part of that endeavor, CBS began pushing the season premiere of its flagship comedy “The Big Bang Theory” in a press alert Thursday.
Airing on Monday, September 22, the premiere event will consist of back-to-back episodes and span the entire 8PM hour.
“The Locomotion Interruption,” the first of those episodes, finds Leonard and Amy taking “an unexpected road trip to Arizona to pick up Sheldon.
“Meanwhile, Penny interviews for a job at Bernadette’s company, and Howard is weirded out by Stuart’s relationship with Mrs. Wolowitz.”
Airing at 8:30PM that night will be “The Junior Professor Solution.”
“When Sheldon is forced to teach a class, Howard surprises everyone by taking it. Meanwhile, the tension between Penny and Bernadette gives Amy a chance to play both sides,” says CBS of the episode.
Stephen Root will guest star as Dan, Bernadette’s boss, in the first episode. Regina King will then return as Mrs. Davis in the 8:30PM broadcast.
After airing temporarily on Mondays to allow for CBS’ Thursday Night Football coverage–and to launch CBS’ younger Monday night shows–“Big Bang” will return to its usual Thursday at 8PM timeslot on October 30.
