No, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” will not reign atop the Billboard Digital Songs chart for a third consecutive week.
No, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” did not represent fierce competition for Taylor Swift’s new “Shake it Off.”
The soaring “Bass” did, however, post its best sales week on record.
According to Billboard, “All About That Bass” moved an additional 283,000 digital copies this week. Significantly below the 544,000 mark for “Shake it Off,” the week’s top seller, the 283,000 total was significantly larger than that moved by any other track this week.
Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang,” which ranks third on the weekly Digital Songs chart, moved 159,000 copies last week. Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” follows at #4 with 142,000, while Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” claims #5 on the strength of 122,000 paid downloads.
Fueled by buzz surrounding the music video, Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” rockets to #6 with 120,000 weekly sales. With 104,000 sales, Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” hits a new high of #7. Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” returns to the Top 10–at #8–with 97,000 new weekly downloads.
Sia’s “Chandelier” (#9, 96,000) and MAGIC!’s “Rude” (#10, 88,000) close out the top ten.
