From a sales perspective, Wiz Khalifa’s “Blacc Hollywood” got off to a lukewarm start. The rapper’s new studio album moved just 90,000 copies in its first week.
That total represents a steep decline from the 148,000 moved by predecessor “ONIFC.” 2011’s “Rolling Papers” started with an even more impressive 197,000 first week sales.
“Blacc Hollywood” did, however, do something neither of those albums could: reach #1 on the Billboard 200.
The new Wiz album debuts as the first chart-topper of his career.
It claims the #1 position with a solid margin of victory. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” “Awesome Mix: Volume 1,” which slips to #2 on the chart, moved 64,000 copies last week.
Chase Rice’s new “Ignite the Night” clocks in at #3 with a debut sales count of 44,000. “NOW 51” (#4, 33,000) and “Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Motley Crue” (#5, 31,000) complete the top five.
Other top ten albums: the “Frozen” soundtrack (#6, 29,000), Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” (#7, 24,000), 5 Seconds of Summer’s “5 Seconds of Summer” (#8, 24,000), Ace Frehley’s “Space Invader” (#9, 19,000) and Ed Sheeran’s “x” (#10, 16,000).
