“Guardians of the Galaxy” Mix Again Wins Album Sales Race

Confronted by no high-profile debuts, the “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix – Volume 1” release repeats atop the Billboard 200 album sales chart.

The “Guardians” soundtrack added 93,000 to its sales count this week, which gave it a comfortable lead over the number two album. “NOW 51,” that release, settles for 52,000 this week.

Adhering to the compilation theme, the “Frozen” soundtrack then follows at #3. The blockbuster album added 43,000 to its cumulative count.

The Gaslight Anthem’s new “Get Hurt,” the week’s best-selling debut, lands at #4. It moved 33,000 copies in week one.

Troye Sivan’s new “TRXYE” EP claims the #5 slot with 30,000 sales.

Other top ten albums: 5 Seconds of Summer’s “5 Seconds of Summer” (27,000, #6), Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” (26,000, #7), Godsmack’s “1000hp” (21,000, #8), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “Hypnotic Eye” (20,000, #9) and Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Party” (19,000, #10).
