Ratings Update: ABC’s “Rising Star” Improves Slightly

Update: Despite matching last week’s series low in the overnight metered markets, ABC’s “Rising Star” enjoyed a slight uptick in adults 18-49.

Sunday’s episode posted a 0.8 rating, which marked a 0.1 improvement from last week’s mark. Viewership, which will likely be subject to an upward adjustment in the finals, clocked in at 3.14 million according to preliminary fast national data.

The promise of six semifinal performances was not enough to boost ABC’s “Rising Star,” which repeated a series low performance in the overnight metered market ratings.

Like last week’s installment, Sunday’s episode drew a paltry 2.0 overnight household number.

While there is no guarantee it will also match last week’s low marks in adults 18-49 (0.7) and total viewers (3.17), it is clear from the steady overnight performance that the episode did not attract a significantly larger audience.

Whether slightly up or slightly down from last week, the demo rating and viewership count will not be impressive.

Sunday’s semifinal episode brought forth the eliminations of Joshua Peavy and Maneepat Molloy. Audrey Kate Geiger, who did not receive enough votes to advance during the live broadcast, ended up receiving the West Coast save. She joins Austin French, Jesse Kinch and Dana Williams in the finale.
