Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” Hits #15 at Pop, Rises at Hot AC

Her song might not have repeated as pop radio’s greatest weekly airplay gainer, but Meghan Trainor is doubtfully shedding tears.

Mediabase’s official weekly airplay updates, ultimately, bring very good news for the singer-songwriter behind phenomenon “All About That Bass.”

According to Mediabase’s published pop airplay chart, which measures airplay from August 10-16, Meghan Trainor’s “Bass” ranks as the format’s #15 song. It earns that mark on the strength of 6,432 weekly spins.

While its weekly audience of 37.16 million impressions trails that of Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s #16 (based on airplay) “Bang Bang,” which scored 38.60 million impressions during that period, it still ranks as pop’s 15th-largest. OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out,” which claims #14 based on play count, only earned 34.08 million impressions during the measured period.

Meghan Trainor’s good news was not limited to the realm of pop. In addition to cracking the Top 50 at rhythmic radio, where she earned 352 spins during the measured period, her “All About That Bass” also jumps to #22 at Hot Adult Contemporary.

Notable about that jump is not simply its solidification of “Bass” as a Top 25 song at Hot Adult Contemporary but the fact that it came as the result of the format’s greatest airplay gain. The song’s weekly Hot AC spin count of 1,306 represented an impressive week-over-week gain of 601 spins.

Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap,” which bested “Bass” for the greatest gainer honor at pop radio, was the second fastest riser at Hot AC this week.

Currently #4 on the Hot 100, “All About That Bass” will repeat as the week’s best-selling digital single.
