Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” Hits #1 at Pop

The pop radio charts just got a little bit less “Rude.”

After several days in the shadow of MAGIC!’s breakthrough song, Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” has finally ascended to the #1 spot on Mediabase’s rolling pop radio airplay chart.

The rise was facilitated by the song’s spin count of 17,198 for the seven days ending August 11. “Rude” earned 17,171 during that period.

With 112.27 million impressions, “Stay with Me” also won the audience battle. “Rude” earned 109.32 million during the measured period.

Still on the rise at a time when “Rude” is beginning to fall, “Stay With Me” should have no trouble holding onto #1 through the coming weekend, when Mediabase issued its official, published airplay report.

Also the #1 song on Adult Contemporary, “Stay with Me” is second–behind “Rude”–on Mediabase’s Hot Adult Contemporary chart.
