Katy Perry’s “This is How We Do,” Nicki’s “Anaconda” Score at Radio

While the Hot Adult Contemporary format showed little enthusiasm for Katy Perry’s new single “This is How We Do,” pop radio programmers embraced the fifth “PRISM” release with open arms.

According to Mediabase, “This is How We Do,” which is already #34 on the pop airplay chart, was the week’s most-added song with an impressive 61 station pickups this week (56 are monitored by Mediabase).

Not a mind-blowing impact week figure, the count is nonetheless impressive given that the song received early adds from more than twenty stations. And it will surely put “This is How We Do” in position to make an enviable run up the airplay chart.

Pop’s second-most-added with 46 total station pickups (42 monitored), Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” had the bigger overall impact week. It supplemented its 46 pop adds with adds from 46 rhythmic (45 monitored) and 42 urban stations (40 monitored). It was most-added on both of those formats.

Within the pop realm, other big winners included Tove Lo’s newly-minted On the Verge song “Habits (Stay High)” (31 total, monitored adds), Bebe Rexha’s newly-impacting “Can’t Stop Drinking About You” (30 total, monitored adds), Meghan Trainor’s enduring “All About That Bass” (26 total adds, 23 monitored) and Rixton’s new “Wait on Me” (26 total adds, 25 monitored).
