When it comes to television ratings, comedy is not working for FX this summer.
On the heels of news that new comedies “Married” and “You’re the Worst” dropped to scary levels in their third weeks of broadcast comes an update that new comedy “Partners” also failed to launch.
Hyped for its marquee pairing between Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence, “Partners” garnered a mere 0.4 adults 18-49 rating with 1.12 million viewers for its inaugural airing at 9PM Monday.
The second episode, which aired at 9:30PM, drew a 0.3 with just 1.01 million.
While FX, under a new directive, does not discuss ratings until data accounting for three days of DVR playback becomes available, it is hard to imagine the time-shifting spike transforming the paltry live number into something significant.
FX is scheduling “Partners” under a 10/90 pact. If it achieves a certain ratings average over its first ten episodes, it will automatically be renewed for ninety additional episodes. Fellow FX comedy “Anger Management” scored its hefty back order under that type of deal.
