Ratings Update: “Rising Star” Holds Steady Against NFL

Update: According to Nielsen’s fast national data, Sunday’s edition of “Rising Star” drew a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 3.5 million viewers.

As far as the fast nationals go, this week’s numbers align precisely with those delivered by last week’s episode. Given that this week’s “Rising Star” faced heavier competition in the form of NBC’s preseason coverage, ABC touts the steadiness as an accomplishment.

The episode delivered improved marks, meanwhile, in adults 18-434, men 18-34 and teens 12-17.

Benefiting from a slight upward adjustment in total viewers, last week’s episode scored a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 3.76 million in the final Nielsen report.

Whether or not it manifests in the adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers remains to be seen, but ABC’s “Rising Star” did improve slightly from last week’s series low performance in the overnights.

Sunday’s two-hour installment of “Star,” which featured performances from the Top 13, drew a 2.2 overnight household rating. Up slightly from last week’s 2.1, the number is still the series’ second-lowest rating to date and the lowest for a two-hour episode.

Last week’s 2.1 overnight rating translated to a series low 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 3.76 million viewers.

This week’s episode revealed that Jesse Kinch, Shameia Crawford, Joshua Peavy, Austin French, Maneepat Molloy, April Lockhart, Audrey Kate Geiger and (via save) Dana Williams advanced to the next round of the competition.
