When it comes to Hot Adult Contemporary radio, the hot keep getting hotter.
Three songs that are already among the format’s greatest airplay gainers garnered considerably more support from radio programmers this week.
With fifteen new monitored each, Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t,” Mary Lambert’s “Secrets” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” tied for most-added at Hot AC, says Mediabase in its weekly update.
The adds will help the songs, which are already #20, #22 and #38 on the Hot AC airplay chart, respectively, continue their rapid climbs.
The Script’s “Superheroes,” last week’s most-added song, landed in fourth this week with another impressive round of adds. It scored pickups from 14 Hot AC stations.
Fifth in terms of add count, Colbie Caillat’s “Try” still scored impressively this week. Among the 11 stations to begin supporting the buzzworthy empowerment anthem were New York City’s Fresh 102.7 and Los Angeles’ 104.3 MYFM. The former also added Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” and Disclosure’s “Latch (featuring Sam Smith).” The latter got behind Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t.”
Sia’s “Chandelier,” which debuted in the Top 40 at Hot AC this week, tied “Try” as fifth-most-added. Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando (featuring Descemer Bueno, Sean Paul and Gente de Zona)” (10 adds, 7th-most-added), Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” (9 adds, 8th-most-added), Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” (7 adds, 9th-most-added), Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” (6 adds, 10th-most-added) and Disclosure’s “Latch (featuring Sam Smith)” (6 adds, 10th-most-added) also had good weeks.
