Billy Currington Secures #1, Cole Swindell Goes Top 10 at Country Radio

It got close late in the week, but when push came to shove, Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance” did not have the juice to knock Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” from the top slot.

The Currington song, therefore, scores the official #1 position on Mediabase’s weekly, published country radio airplay chart.

“Tonight” garnered 7,724 spins over the seven days ending August 2. That gave it a comfortable edge over Brice’s “Dance,” which received 7,457 plays during that same period. With 55.74 million impressions, “We Are Tonight” also reached a larger audience than the Brice tune, which garnered 54.12 million during the measured period.

“We Are Tonight” officially dethrones Joe Nichols’ “Yeah,” which slips to #4 on this week’s Mediabase chart.

Other top 5 songs include Dierks Bentley’s “Drunk on a Plane” (#3) and Brad Paisley’s “River Bank” (#5).

The balance of the top ten includes Tim McGraw’s “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s (featuring Faith Hill)” (#6), Lady Antebellum’s “Bartender” (#7), Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids” (#8), Dustin Lynch’s “Where it’s At” (#9) and Cole Swindell’s “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” (#10). The lattermost song debuts in the Top 10 after settling for #12 on last week’s chart.
