Big Data’s “Dangerous” Claims #1 at Alternative, Weezer Goes Top 10

There is no more ambiguity: Big Data’s “Dangerous (featuring Joywave)” is the number one song at alternative radio.

While the tune had been reaching the format’s largest audience for several days, its weekly airplay count continued to trail that of Bleachers’ #1 “I Wanna Get Better.”

That officially changed during the seven day period ending August 1. “Dangerous,” not “Get Better,” was the alt format’s most-played song within that measured window. And insofar as the gap between “Dangerous” and “I Wanna Get Better” is already more than 100 spins wide, “Dangerous” is expected to retain its lead and secure an “official” #1 recognition from Mediabase when it issues its published airplay chart Sunday evening.

Over the seven days ending August 1, “Dangerous” earned 2,567 spins and 10.61 million audience impressions. The Bleachers track received 2,460 spins and 9.48 million impressions.

Other notables on the rolling alternative airplay chart for July 26 – August 1:

— The Dirty Heads’ smash “My Sweet Summer” rises to a new peak of #5.

— Weezer’s comeback single “Back to the Shack” reaches #10 after only about two weeks of availability.

— Alt-J’s “Left Hand Free” climbs two spots to a new peak of #13.

— Priory’s rapidly advancing “Weekend” rises to #23; Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “Do or Die” improves to #25.

— Bastille’s “Flaws” enters the Top 30 at #29.
