Ratings Update: “Rising Star” Sinks to Another Series Low

Update: Based on Nielsen’s fast national data, “Rising Star” indeed slipped to a new series low Monday night.

The ABC reality show drew a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 3.55 million viewers. The figures were down by 10% and and 13% from last week’s levels.

The only positive about the performance is that it improved as the hour progressed. After opening with a 0.8 and 3.25 million viewers from 9-9:30PM, it jumped to a 1.0 with 3.84 million from 9:30-10PM.

The momentum ABC’s “Rising Star” appeared to be building two weeks ago is officially gone.

After enjoying a ratings uptick for its fourth episode, the music competition series has suffered two consecutive weeks of declines in the overnight household ratings.

This Sunday’s episode, in fact, reached a new series low.

After settling for a series low 2.5 last week, which was down from the prior week’s 2.8, this week’s edition posted a mere 2.1 overnight household rating.

While there is no guarantee the 16% drop will affect the adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers (last week’s segment drew a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with 4.06 million viewers), there is no reason to believe the episode notably rebounded.

Next Sunday’s episode marks the commencement of the show’s Quarterfinals.
