Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” Hits #3 as Pop’s Fastest-Rising Song

For the seven days ending July 25, Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap,” not Ariana Grande’s explosive “Break Free (featuring Zedd),” reigned as the fastest-rising song at pop radio.

A new song has already usurped that distinction.

According to the Sunday morning edition of the Mediabase rolling airplay chart, Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” is now the fastest-rising song at pop radio. Its spin count of 15,028, which was enough to register the song as pop radio’s 3rd-most-played track, represented a gain of 2,159 spins from the prior seven day period.

Charli XCX’s #9 “Boom Clap” enjoyed a boost of 1,878 spins for a weekly total of 9,053.

Now #13, Grande’s “Break Free” saw its spin count increase by 1,716 to 6,253. Disclosure’s #5 “Latch,” which features the aforementioned Sam Smith, rose by 1,486 spins to 13,834, while Iggy Azalea’s #17 “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” enjoyed a healthy gain of 1,343 for a total of 4,493.

Based on its current pacing, “Stay With Me” definitely has a shot of reaching #1 at pop radio. It currently trails MAGIC!’s #1 “Rude” (17,851 spins, +527) and Nico and Vinz’ #2 “Am I Wrong” (17,465 spins, -225).
