Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” Goes Top 20 at Hot AC, #28 at Pop

A beneficiary of iHeartRadio’s coveted “On the Verge” push that is proving itself to be a compelling fit for radio, Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” continues storming up Mediabase’s Hot Adult Contemporary airplay chart.

According to the cleansed, published edition of Mediabase’s Hot AC chart, “Cool Kids” was the format’s 20th-most-played song for the seven days ending July 26. It received 1,551 spins and 8.16 million audience impressions during that period.

Its weekly spin gain of 424 was the format’s fourth-largest. Only Disclosure’s #18 “Latch (featuring Sam Smith)” (+517 spins), Maroon 5’s #5 “Maps” (+512) and MAGIC!’s newly minted #1 “Rude” (+461) made bigger gains between July 20 and 26.

With 411 spins in its debut week, The Script’s new “Superheroes” was the format’s fifth-biggest-gainer. It debuts at #37 on the official Mediabase chart for Hot AC.

While it is doing its most impressive work (as far as chart performance goes) at Hot AC, Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” is also a positive mover at pop. It rises to #28 on the latest edition of the Mediabase pop/Top 40 airplay chart.

Other Hot AC notables:

— Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” enters the Top 10 at #10.

— MKTO’s “Classic” reaches a new high of #14.

— Andy Grammer’s “Back Home” reaches the Top 25 at #23.

— Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” joins The Script’s #37 “Superheroes” as a Top 40 newcomer for the Hot AC format. It enters at #38.
