Weird Al’s “Mandatory Fun” Pacing to Win Album Sales Race

Weekly album sales forecasts have once again been adjusted, and they now indicate a Billboard 200 victory for Weird Al Yankovic’s “Mandatory Fun.”

According to Hits Daily Double, the buzzworthy new album is now on track for a bow in the 80-85,000 range. If it continues on that pace, it should edge Jason Mraz’ new “Yes!” The Mraz album is likely to score a first week total of 73-78,000.

It would also give Weird Al his first #1 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart. While it was not his best seller, his 2011 release “Alpocalypse,” which reached #9, currently represents Yankovic’s highest-charting release.

Fellow new releases from Rise Against (“The Black Market”) and Kidz Bop (“Kidz Bop 26”) will follow with debuts in the 58-63,000 and 45-50,000 ranges, respectively.
