If one were looking for FX’s “The Strain” to emerge as television’s next blockbuster, he will be disappointed by the show’s premiere performance.
If, however, he were expecting the show to perform impressively by the network’s standards, Sunday’s ratings report will serve as a testament to his flair for prediction.
Sunday’s heavily-hyped premiere episode drew a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 2.99 million viewers.
Second to HBO’s “True Blood” (1.7 rating, 3.23 million viewers) among cable broadcasts Sunday, “The Strain” posted a considerably stronger adults 18-49 number than FX’s recent launches “Tyrant” and “Fargo.”
“Fargo,” which launched this April, drew a 0.8 rating with 2.65 million viewers for its premiere. “Tyrant” launched with a 0.6 rating and 2.10 million viewers.
